I buy a filter not only because it provides a simple leak-proof twist and replace design, but because it filters water to make it safer and taste better than raw tap water. This is a great looking filter from battered Insinkerator, but Insinkerator needs to clearly establish what I'm filtering, how well, and why I might choose the Insinkerator filter over a Whirlpool, G.E. or any other. All I know is this nice looking filter was inside my retail carton with the stainless SST FLTR instant hot water heater. I elected to retain my existing under sink filtration system. Sorry I can't be more specific, but water filtration from Insinkerator is a mystery.
There are so many much less expensive higher quality treatment products out there. These use only their special cartridges. You are stuck with only a couple of choices. Other good quality standard filter housings can take many cartridges with many choices of treatment depending on the final result you want and the water in your area. Don't back yourself into a wall.
