Costumer Reviews
Hello.
Although I been purchaseing products for well over decade from Amazon, I never written a review for Amazon before.. till now.
Just an awful product.
This is a very cheaply made, badly engineered and aweful quality control for such simple device costing so much for what it is.
As soon as I set this up, it sprung a leak from the spoket that connects to main body of the dispenser.
I tightened the plastic nut that holds the spigot to the stainless steel reservoir as much as I can to stop the leak.
Apparently you can't...The provided rubber gasket(washer) that's designed to prevent leak is "not soft enough" to do its intended job, so it's letting water out about drop per second.
Also, because there isn't any built in "stopper/blocker", if you happen to even just tap the spigot accidently, spigot gets loose and water is leaking everywhere. This is a cost cutting, lack of real world product testing and poor engineering at its best...
Later, I also found another slow leak from the reservoir base.
The reservoir is made of what looks like thick sheet metal, machine rolled body and stamped on base.
The leak is coming from where the body meets the base.
Considering the risk of more copies being defective as mine was, I will not, can not recommend this product to anyone.
EDIT: 7/18/2011
I wouldn't go as far as to say disregard all five star reviews.
However, I just want to point out that couple of five star reviews are "most certainly suspicious."
EDIT: 8/23/2011
The two obviously "funded" reviews been removed since this morning.
I won't guess who or why they did this, because I don't need to....just awful
EDIT: 9/22/2011
To FINALLY address the possibility of faulty installations;
You really can not improperly set this up...How many sane ways can anyone install this product? It's like Lego set for three year olds, there's only ONE logical way to assemble this thing...
If there ever were some other weird unorthodox ways of assembling it, I would have tried it that too, just to stop the leak and deal with it...but there wasn't...
I would much prefered to have this thing work then to waste my time and energy of going through the trouble of repacking and sending this thing back.
I don't know about current copy, but when I purchased this product back in 2008, it was badly engineered using very VERY cheap defective "imported" parts.
I simply wrote the review based on M.Y. own personal experience ONE particular copy of this product, the company behind it , and people who work for the company who produced this product.
I purchased this item as an alternative to the heavy (and breakable) ceramic crocks for having an easy dispenser for my kids to get their own water throughout the day. I use a New Wave Enviro 3 gallon bottle on top, which is nicely proportioned to the crock. I agree that it keeps the water nice and cool, but it IS the dead of winter in MN. My biggest qualm is that no matter how we tighten or adjust the spout, there is a tiny, yet persistent leak. It is a bit pricey for the quality...but we kept it anyway. And we use it. I just wouldn't rush to recommend it to a friend, or you.
